Integrating Children of Daulatdia Brothel into Society through the Safe Home Project​

Project Summary

Goal: Break intergenerational cycles of poverty, exploitation, and exclusion through education, vocational training, healthcare, and life skills.

Experience: PIACT Bangladesh has over 25 years of experience in Daulatdia, advocating for marginalized children.

Alignment with UNCRC: Rights to protection (Article 19), education (Article 28), and development (Article 6).

A Story of Transformation

Context: Children born into Daulatdia face stigma, neglect, and exploitation.

Vision for Change:Provide a nurturing environment with shelter, education, vocational training, and life skills.

Hope for the Future: The Safe Home is a family-like environment under the care of Abu Yusuf Choudhury.

A Legacy of Hope

Past Successes: Over 120 children supported through partnerships with UNDP and Social Welfare Council.

Current Impact: 15 children in Safe Home, receiving education and vocational skills.

Challenge: Need for additional external support as children grow and needs increase.

Critical Need for External Support

Barriers Faced:

1. Exploitation, violence, and neglect remain common..

2. Financial instability of sex workers limits children’s opportunities.

3. Limited resources to meet growing educational, healthcare, and emotional needs.


Funding is crucial for the project’s sustainability and success.

    Tailored skills for marketable employment (e.g., tailoring, computer skills, hospitality).
